This week in addition to playing at at least 5 other venues in the area….It was all about weddings!
Who doesn’t love weddings!?
The beautiful ceremonies-the yaaaay cocktail hours and then the receptions diner and…live dancing!! Super fun.
Usually Ceremonies might be solo or small ensemble. But occasionally I’ve played amazing ceremonies along with for example..a mariachi band…an almost orchestral ensemble replete with bagpipes…These can be very exciting and fun to put together!
And can be totally personal and unique.
And then the cocktail hour could be anything from solo piano…jazz or pop piano and or vocals to a jazz quartet. or an even a larger ensemble. Irish Band? Done that too…
Receptions- usually diner is a smaller combo or a solo piano. Moving into a trio or full band for dancing and fun to the end of the evening!
This week. I played at one wedding in Santa Ana with a Michael Buble First Dance- “Save the Last Dance” and the singer was a super cool gal who was a friend of the Bride!! Then going into a lot of classic dance songs and rocking out til the end of the evening. Dancing is so awesome! The more people dance the more fun! : )
And on Sunday an early wedding. 1100am to 330p. We cocktail houred them with some light swinging jazz! Leading through the day into a fantastic Hora and the..the toasts, the bouquet, etc…and finally the whole wedding reception practically on the dance floor or smiling along with the dancers! Until they threw us out at 3:30pm! : ) So much fun.
Of course there was the time I got hired to play for an AFTER wedding party…just me and my keyboard and my BOSE speaker!
Me and about 200 people came in and proceeded to DANCE and SING every super high energy whooo hooo piano bar song I knew for at least 3 hours straight…starting at 11pm!
And then also this week I was hired to play for an engagement party but…that’s another story!
If you need help figuring out how to make your day perfect let me know. I’d love to help you make YOUR music utterly amazing!! : )
