I had a great time this weekend. I played Friday in Valencia at a Condo complex and had a great time. I wish I had photos..
I got this call from Roger Harrison to play at a Mardi Gras Party from 6pm to 7pm.
The place was hopping. All were cool folks over 55 and I love to play from the 30s and 40s ….
I didn’t know what people wanted to hear so I asked…: )
They wanted Standards and I ended up playing Georgia, and Misty and Night and Day and a bunch of Gershwin and Duke Ellington.
Stuff like this…..httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBESopadtR8
The food was good the people were wonderful and I ran into a friend named Tom Tally.
Wonderful violinist. And I of course talked him into unpacking his violin and we played an extra half hour for everyone who stuck around until about 7: 30 and just had a ball.
I hadn’t seen Tom for about 10 years and wow, great player. I forgot how beautiful the Violin and piano sound doing standards and whatever we ended up playing.
Saturday I got flown all expense to Sacramento to help with a fund raiser. What a treat. I got to see Arnold’s “house”. You know the state capitol! :]
The venue was a museum Really cool all about California, and people from California. Really awesome. I love stuff like that.
The fund raiser was a hoot, big success. We had a blast. I got to perform with Jeannie Deva, yes she lived up to her name. I’ve always had a blast performing with her. He husband, “LA Joe” from Boston,an able drummer in his own right, and my very good friend of about 30 years now.
On bass, Bozz!! Keeping down the bottom. And on Guitar, I have never played with but hope to again and soon, Mr Henry Robinett. That cat can play!! : )
I had a dynamite time. It was good to get out of LA for a minute and get all kinds of culture. We had diner in the Hard Rock Cafe in Sac. The hotel was really nice.
Today, Sunday I worked with Marty Buttwinick on his next masterpiece and I tried to figure out how to get the other 10 projects that I need to get done, finished…
Incidentally, I’m really proud of the song that I did the music for Izzy Chait on this week. You may well be hearing it in the very near future. Izzy got a lyric from Carl Price and asked me to musicify it. I love it.
Beautiful!!
Wow what a week. I can’t wait to see what I can get done next week.
I’m so happy about all the projects that I’ve been able to be part of and be involved with recently, so, thank you all.
Onwards!! : )
Hope you’re productive. Life is so much more fun when you’re doing stuff!!
