Another Week in the Life of a Los Angeles Pianist!

Image via Wikipedia Monday Parkway!

I’m starting on Monday…mostly because it’s where my week started! First off two of the regulars at Parkway came in with a bunch of family and friends and brought me – yes me, a CD of ….ta da! Real Portuguese music!! Beautiful.

These wonderful people have been coming in for months and it’s always a great exchange talking to them about music and songs etc…

The husband is from Portugual and he has often asked me to play any “Portuguese” music. I have been at a loss…What is it? It’s not Brazilian even though Brazil speaks Portuguese..Okay, Now that I have had a chance to listen a bit, I know! And it’s of course unique and beautiful and the best thing is that now I can learn some real Portuguese music!! Cool!

And then- who else comes in? This awesome party of very bright people who want to hear- amongst others-”It’s a Wonderful Life!” ( “What a Wonderful World”)

The exchange with these people is just fun and the lady even asks me to come out to the table and see what else they would like to hear.

One of the party it turns out is a writer who writes for magazines in England and almost played golf recently with…… Rick Wakeman!! What? Wild! I shook his hand  because he promises me he is going to play golf with Rick Wakeman in the near future and, he will shake his hand for me!!!! So now, I shook hands “once removed” with Rick Wakeman! Now that’s awesome!

Plus they did love my rather over the top version of Piano Man!! Let’s just say it brought the whole table into the piano area from the Dining room for the big finale!! : ) Amazing night!

Art is Better With Art! : )

It’s all about Art!!

Last night was awesome! I realized that art is better with other art.

I love to play in art galleries.

Yesterday I played with my  fabulous trio in the The Edgemar Center for the Arts! Wow, was it cool. I wish I had more photos.

They have 2 pianos. A baby grand and a Yamaha upright. I played the Grand. With the trio!!

Marty Buttwinick on bass. Wonderful being, beautiful bass playing, and a sense of humor. Doron Eskanazi on the drums. Really there

and creative and always on the money! : )

I have got to do more trio gigs so we can play more.

What A Venue!

But check it out, we were in this beautiful venue. The space itself is an art gallery in a very hip modern building in Santa Monica,

CA, for the opening of a new Play by the amazing Henry Jaglom called “Just 45 Minutes from Broadway.” And there I was  with a bunch of beautiful art loving people and all these celebrities and

making music and people were dancing and…wow!! What a blast.

Tobias, the Studio Manager  and Nicholas, House Manager,  the care takers we’re an absolute pleasure to work with and just, WOW!

That was so much fun.

and  a real  play!! The venue is just plain beautiful and all the people there were just so helpful and motivated. My life is amazing….

The house was packed and I don’t know about you, but I love a room of people that come out to see the opening of an art Play!!         Now that is  awesome.

The Play

Highly entertaining.  Henry has quite the sense of humor and  he makes his point at least from my perspective that [...]

I helped Steven Neal Wagner with this Gem!

This song is called “One of the Two” . (click on the little blue arrow triangle thing to hear the song.)

It’s written and performed by Steven Neal Wagner. Also known as “Steve” and “Wags”. And other name that shall not be printed here. : )

Beautiful song I helped produce this I did the strings. Steve wrote the parts and I created them in the studio on my computer. It was a blast.

Love this song.

Love Steve. Love life.

Betsey’s Song

I remember Betsey asking me over and over to play this song for her. Life can be wonderful.
