Film Composition

Here’s the new Trailer for the film. Has different music. I composed all of it.

This is the original one.

I think it was a pretty natural progression for me to wind up doing film music. You can see from most of the other info on this blog that I’ve had a lot of experience with different genres. I sang very early and when I was a kid we were always singing in the car on trips, at home, during parties people always had guitars around and we’d all sing. Folk was really big back then.

Since I started playing music and all kinds of it in school bands, rock bands, jazz bands, metal bands, and you name it and having worked even with a improv comedy act for some time I started thinking how fun it would be to actually do film music.

Once I started producing my own music and using all of the tools available to anyone these days and getting it around to others I guess the word got out and eventually I got an offer to score a film for a friend of a friend.

Even though the film did not end up using my music for the final cut I had a heck of a learning experience and really enjoyed it.

Since I like to blab up whatever I’m excited about, which seems to be similiar to whatever I’m doing, then another friend asked me to score a short film. This was the real thing and I’ve had so much fun doing it and learned so much I’m really ready to go now.

One of the things that my friend Mark Isham has pointed out is that one of the great things about film is that there are no genre’s. That is so true. In this current film I’ve gone from solo piano to Industrial Rock and from eriee suspense music to practically classical music. Very challenging, very fun.

And I have a full length feature on the horizon now so I think this ride isn’t over yet.
